Maggie Beer AO, Australian chef and food icon, established the Maggie Beer Foundation in 2014 with a mission to transform the food and dining experience for older people through education and training. Her mission is to ensure that older individuals, whether living in their own home or an aged care home, have access to flavourful, nutritious food that brings pleasure. Maggie will share the Foundation’s story, its ongoing advocacy and training programmes. While good nutrition is a central theme, the role of food in creating joy, purpose and social opportunities is integral to Maggie’s vision. She states that food is about creating an appetite for life.
