Recognising non visible disabilities

FIA Conference 2027 is proud to support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, a globally recognised symbol for people living with a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent.

Delegates who choose to wear a Sunflower lanyard are discreetly indicating that they may need additional time, support or understanding while attending the Conference. Wearing the lanyard is entirely voluntary, and no one is required to disclose or explain their disability or condition.

FIA Conference staff and volunteers will be briefed on the meaning of the Sunflower, helping us create a more welcoming, respectful and inclusive Conference experience for everyone.

The Quiet Room is available for any delegate who needs time away from the activity, noise and sensory demands of the Conference. It provides a calm space to rest, reset or regulate before returning to the program.

To support everyone using this shared space, please keep conversations to a minimum, place devices on silent and take phone calls or meetings elsewhere.

The Quiet Room is located on Level 2 in Room 4 of the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

FIA Conference 2027 will offer a dedicated Quiet Hour in the Exhibition, providing a calmer and more accessible environment for delegates who may benefit from reduced noise, activity and sensory stimulation.

During this time, exhibitors will be asked to minimise sound and create a quieter atmosphere, giving delegates the opportunity to explore the Exhibition, meet industry suppliers and have conversations at a more relaxed pace.

The Quiet Hour is open to all delegates and forms part of FIA’s commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive Conference experience.

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre provides detailed information to help visitors plan an accessible and comfortable experience at the venue.

A Visual Story uses photographs and clear descriptions to help delegates become familiar with the venue and understand what to expect before arriving at the Conference.
